It is compulsary because, Pre-shipment inspections (PSI) initiated by governement of India is undertaken to ensure that the price of the imported goods actually reflects the true/fair value of the goods to prevent the import of substandard goods in the country and, to ensure the custom duties are being paid on all the items imported.
