Question

Q.2. Calculate the molar volume of a gas at STP.

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student

STP stands for standard temperature and pressure , temperature is 273 oK and 1 atm pressure.
Now putting these values in the gas equation: PV = nRT
R = universal gas constant = 0.082 L atm / K / mol

1 atm × V = 1 mol × 0.082 L atm K-1mol-1 × 273 K V = 0.082 × 273 L = 22.386 L = 22.4 L
So, the molar volume at STP is 22.4 L
