(i) All the elements of a group have similar chemical properties because they have the same number of electrons in their outermost shell.

And


(ii) All the elements of a period have different chemical properties because in the group when we move from left to right the number of valence electrons increases by unit one. As in the same period, all the elements have the different number of valence electrons it gives rise to the different chemical properties of all the elements.
