A nearly 4,000-year-old urban settlement has been unearthed in Babhaniyav village (13 km from Varanasi, Uttar pradesh) by a team of surveyors from the Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Surveyors have also found a pillar with a two-line text in the Kushan-Brahmi script. They also found a temple dating back to the 5th Century AD through 8th Century AD, potteries which are 4000-year-old and walls which are 2000-year-old.

बनारस हिंदू विश्वविद्यालय (बीएचयू) के सर्वेक्षणकर्ताओं की एक टीम द्वारा बभनियाव गाँव (वाराणसी से 13 किलोमीटर दूर) में लगभग 4,000 साल पुरानी शहरी बस्ती की खोज की है।सर्वेक्षणकर्त्ताओं को कुषाण-ब्राह्मी लिपि में दो-पंक्ति वाला एक स्तंभ , 5 वीं और 8 वीं शताब्दी ईस्वी के मध्य का एक मंदिर , 4000 वर्ष पुराने कुछ मिट्टी के बर्तन तथा 2000 साल पुरानी दीवारें भी मिली है।
