Q. Compare the following rational Numbers and find which is greater:

9/-13 or 7/ -12.Kindly include the steps and reasons too as my doubt is regarding the value of two negative rational Numbers in comparison.

9/-13 = -9/13



7/ -12 = -7/12


We can compare two rational by making the denominator of both numbers equal ,(In case of negative no.s)Which no has small numerator will larger no.


So we multiply both sides of -9/13 by 12=> -9*12/13*12 = -108/156


and we multiply both sides of -7/12 by 13 => -9*12/13*12 = -91/156


So as -91> -108


We can say -91/156 > -108/156


=> -7/ 12 > -9/13
