3- Brahmo Samaj was founded in 1828 in Calcutta by pioneer social reformer Raja Ram Mohan Roy , the movement fought against idol worship, polytheism, caste oppression, unnecessary rituals and other social evils like Sati, polygamy, purdah system, child marriage, etc.

1- Governor-General Lord Bentinck passed on December 4, 1829, the Bengal Sati Regulation which banned the Sati practice in all British jurisdictions. Raja Ram Mohan Roy played a significant role in forcing the British government to pass a law against Sati.

2- The Hindu Widows' Remarriage Act, 1856, enacted on 26 July 1856, legalised the remarriage of Hindu widows in all jurisdictions of India under East India Company rule.

4- Saraswati founded the Arya Samaj on April 7, 1875. Through this reform movement, he stressed One God and rejected idol worship. He also advocated against the extolled position of priests in Hinduism.
