Q.) How will you distinguish between methyl chloride and chloro benzene?

Dear Student,

In chlorobenzene, chlorine is attached to benzene ring and cannot under go easy substitution when react with AgNO3 it will not ppt. as AgCl.

While in methyl chloride , Chlorine is attached to carbon chain and act as alkyl halide.It form AgCl when treated with AgNO3.
