Question

Q:- If P=3^i4^j and Q=8^i+86^j. Find the magnitude and direction of P+Q

Open in App
Solution

Given that,

Vectors

$\begin{align}

P=3^i4^j

Q=8^i+86^j

Now, the magnitude of the vector of P+Q

P+Q=(3i4j)+(8i+6j)

P+Q=11^i+2^j

|P+Q|=(11)2+(2)2

|P+Q|=125

|P+Q|=11.18

Now, the direction is

θ=tan1|Q||P|

θ=tan1105

θ=tan12

θ=63.40

Hence, the magnitude of the vector is 11.18 and the direction about 63.40
