The scheme encompasses a total of 16 sub-projects addressing ocean development activities such as Services, Technology, Resources, Observations and Science. The services rendered under the O-SMART will provide economic benefits to a number of user communities in the coastal and ocean sectors, namely, fisheries, offshore industry, coastal states, Defence, Shipping, and Ports etc.

ओ-स्मार्ट योजना से तात्पर्य “महासागर सेवाओं, प्रौद्योगिकी, निगरानी , संसाधन मॉडलिंग और विज्ञान आदि से है। यह योजना , पृथ्वी विज्ञान मंत्रालय के अंतर्गत कार्य करती है। इस योजना में कुल 16 उप-परियोजनाएँ सम्मिलित हैं, जो महासागर विकास गतिविधियों जैसे कि सेवाएं, प्रौद्योगिकी, संसाधन, अवलोकन और विज्ञान से जुडी हैं।
