Q.):- The present age of Seema's mother is three times the present age of Seema. After 5 years their ages will add to 78 years. Find their present age.

Let the present age of seema = x years

∴ present age of seema's mother = 3x years

After 5 years, age of seema = (x + 5) years

After 5 years, age of seema's mother = 3x + 5 years

According to the given condition,

3x+ 5 + x+ 5 = 78

⇒ 4x = 68

⇒ x = 17 years

Hence the present age of seema and her mother is 17 and 51 years respectively.
