Primary hydrogens are the hydrogen attached to the primary carbon i.e. carbon which is bonded with only one other carbon atom.
1) This is a special case, as here carbon is attached to no other carbon. This is not called primary carbon and hence here no primary hydrogens are present. 2) Here both the terminal carbons are primary.So, number of primary hydrogens = 3+3=63) Here all the 4 -CH3 groups are attached to only one C and so are primary. Therefore, number of primary hydrogen = 4×3=124) The structure is CH3CH2(CH3)CHCH3Here all the -CH3 groups are primary. SO, number of primary H =3×3=9So, (3) has maximum number of primary H-atoms.
