Solution

The correct option is D 1, 2 and 3

Explanation:

Statement 1 is correct: The Indian Ocean Dipole often called the "Indian Nino'', is an atmosphere-ocean coupled phenomenon in the Indian Ocean that refers to the difference in sea surface temperature between two areas (or poles, hence a dipole) – a western pole in the Arabian Sea (western Indian Ocean) and an eastern pole in the eastern Indian Ocean south of Indonesia. This temperature difference results in pressure difference which results in inflowing of winds between the eastern and western parts of the Indian Ocean.

Statement 2 is correct: IOD develops in the equatorial region of the Indian Ocean

Statement 3 is correct: During this phase of IOD, the Westerly winds weaken along the equator, allowing warm water to shift towards Africa. Changes in the winds also allow the rise of cool water from the deep ocean in the eastern Indian Ocean. This creates a temperature difference across the tropical Indian Ocean with cooler than normal water in the east and warmer than normal water in the west. This strengthens the Indian monsoon
