Q. Why alkali and alkaline earth metals have high thermal conductivity?

Thermal conductivity is the measure of heat conduction. In group 1 and 2, i.e. alkali and alkali earth metals, valence electrons are least stable - they move at random speeds resulting in more collisions and hence conduct heat.
