Solution

All the excisting life forms share similarities and common ancestors. However, these ancestors belonged to different periods of the history of earth. If we wish to study the formation and origin of earth, we refer to the rocks that had formed a very long ago. Meanwhile, we also encounted the fossils found on them. Hence we study the different forms of life that had excisted and had died during the formation of the particular sediment of the rock. We thus accept that geological history closely correlates with the biological history. (go through pae number 129 of class 12 NCERT book for expanded details)
