Explanation: During the freedom struggle, the number of secret societies came to be formed in Bangal, Punjab, Maharashtra, and other parts of the country. Of these, the most important was Anushilan Samiti with its centres at Kolkata, Dhaka and many other places. Mitra Mela was started by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar early in 1900 Maharashtra. The same organisation came to be known as Abhinav Bharat in 1904, with its network extending over Western and Central India. Later, its branches in the form of the Gadar Party sprung up in England, France, Germany, America and Singapore.
