After the abrupt end of the Non-Cooperation Movement there were two factions among the Congress related to entry into the legislative councils. They were called as Swarajist and No Changers.
Statement 1 incorrect: Swarajists wanted to end the boycott of the legislative councils as they wanted entry into the Councils to show the weakness of British rule. In other words, they wanted to ‘end or mend‘ these councils. Thus, they supported entry into the legislative councils. It was the No Changers who were against entry in the legislative councils.
Statement 2 is incorrect: Mahatma Gandhi in the beginning was sceptical about entry into the legislative councils as he argued for the continuation of the full programme of boycott and non-cooperation.
