Prime Minister inaugurated the ‘New Bhaupur- New Khurja section’ of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) and Operation Control Centre (OCC) at Prayagraj. It is being constructed by Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), that has been set up as a special purpose vehicle to build and operate Dedicated Freight Corridors. Due to this, the speed of the freight train also would increase three times and would be able to carry double the volume of goods.

Statement 1 is correct: The entire EDFC is being built with loan from the World Bank, except for the last portion between Bihar and West Bengal. The last remaining portion of the Corridor between Sonnagar and Dankuni is to be constructed in the public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
