Question

Q1) what happens when a Rhoeo leaf cell is kept in water ?

Q2) name the biomolecule in the form of which chromosomes contain information for inheritence of features from one generation to another?

Solution

1. Rheo leaf in  water:
when the cells of rheo leaf are observed under a microscope after the leaf is palced in plain water, these are the observations:
The cells appear plump and turgid than before. This is due to the process of osmosis where water molecules moved into the cells of the rheo leaf. This happens because the plain water is hypotonic to the cell cytoplasm and hence, due to osmosis water molecules will move to this high concentration.
