1. In accordance with Wood's Despatch, the British government set up education provinces in every province of British India. They also established universities in Calcutta, Bombay, Madras, Punjab and Allahabad. Government schools were also opened in every district.

2. Wood's Despatch emphasized on European learning because it was felt that it was only though European learning that Indians could be educated in a modern way with its emphasis on science and humanities.
