Solution

(a) Lead oxide is the yellow monoxide that dissolves in hot and concentrated alkali. The reaction:

PbOleadoxide+2NaOHsodiumhydroxideNa2PbO2sodiumplumbate+H2Owater

(b) Auminium oxide is a white insoluble oxide that dissolves when fused with caustic soda or caustic potash.

The reaction of aluminium oxide Al2O3 with caustic soda NaOH is

Al2O3aluminiumoxide+2NaOHcausticsoda2NaAlO2sodiumaluminate+H2Owater

(c) When aluminium hydroxide is added with caustic soda we get a salt of sodium meta aluminate NaAlO2

The reaction:

Al2O3aluminiumoxide+2NaOHcausticsoda2NaAlO2sodiumaluminate+H2Owater

(d) The blue solution is Copper sulphate CuSO4. The reaction is,

CuSO4coppersulphate+2NH4OHammoniumhydroxideCu(OH)2copperhydroxide(deepblue)+(NH4)2SO4ammoniumsulphate

(e) Copper hydroxide Cu(OH)2 is the hydroxide soluble in excess of Ammonium hydroxide.
