(b) 165 km


Let time taken while travelling by bus = x h

Time taken while travelling by Train = (6 - x) h

Distance covered by Bus = 40x

Distance covered by Trains = 55(6 -x)

Total Distance covered = 285

40x + (55) (6 -x) = 285

40x + 330 – 55x = 285

X = 3

Time taken while travelling by Train = 3h

Speed of Train = 5 km/h

Distance = s × T

= 55 × 3

= 165 km Ans.
