Directive Principles of State Policy were given preference ever Fundamental rights mentioned in Article 14, 19 and 31 through 42^nd Constitutional Amendment. Although the Supreme Court in it’s verdict in Minerva Mills case termed it unconstitutional, never the less it held that fundamental right mentioned in Article 14 and 19 have been subjected to Directive Principles enshrined in Article 39(b) and (c).

DPSPs have been included in part IV of the Indian Constitution.
