Cost push inflation is caused by an increase in prices of inputs like labour, raw material, etc. The increased price of the factors of production leads to a decreased supply of these goods. While the demand remains constant, the prices of commodities increase causing a rise in the overall price level this is in essence cost push inflation.

लागत-जन्य स्फीति श्रम, कच्चे माल आदि जैसे आगतों की कीमतों में वृद्धि के कारण होता है। उत्पादन कारकों की बढ़ी हुई कीमत इन वस्तुओं की आपूर्ति में कमी करती है। जब मांग स्थिर बनी हुई है, परन्तु वस्तुओं की कीमतों में वृद्धि के कारण कुल मूल्य स्तर में वृद्धि होती है तब मुख्यत: इसे लागत-जन्य स्फीति कहा जाता है।
