Question 10
The point which lies on the perpendicular bisector of a line segment joining points A(-2, -5) and B(2,5) is

(A) (0, 0)
(B) (0, 2)
(C) (2, 0)
(D) (–2, 0)

Solution

We know that, the perpendicular bisector of a line segment divides the line segment into two equal parts i.e., the perpendicular bisector of a line segment always passes through mid-point of the line segment.
Mid-point of the line segment joining points A(-2,-5) and B(2,5)
=(2+22,5+52)=(0,0)
[ Mid-point of any line segment which passes through points
(x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is [x1+x22,y1+y22]
Hence, (0,0) is the required point that lies on the perpendicular bisector of the line segment.
