Question

Question 14
Can any object have momentum even if its mechanical energy is zero? Explain.

Solution

When the mechanical energy is zero, there is no potential energy and no kinetic energy. The kinetic energy being zero implies the velocity is zero. Hence, there will be no momentum. Therefore an object cannot have momentum if its mechanical energy is zero.
