A reaction in which an acid and a base react with each other, neutralize or nullify each others' effect and produce a salt and water is termed as a neutralization reaction. For example:
(i) NaOH(aq)+HCl(aq)→NaCl(aq)+H2O(l)
(ii) HNO3(aq)+KOH(aq)→KNO3(aq)+H2O(l)
