Question 19
Single circulation i.e., blood flows through the heart only once during one cycle of passage through the body, is exhibited by
(a) Labeo, Chameleon, Salamander
(b) Hippocampus, Exocoetus, Anabas
(c) Hyla, Rana, Draco
(d) Whale, Dolphin, Turtle
(b) Hippocampus, Exocoetus, Anabas
Blood flows through the heart only once during one cycle of passage through the body, this is called single circulation which is exhibited by Hippocampus, Exocoetus and Anabas. Here the blood flows only once through the heart during one cycle of passage through the body. It occurs in fishes. This is less efficient as gill capillaries slow down the blood flow, hence the body receives blood at a low pressure which decreases the rate of oxygen supply to the cells.
