Solution

(b) formation of sperm

In male human beings, the testes lie in the scrotum. The formation of germ-cells or sperms takes place in the testes. High temperature does not allow the maturation of sperms which is why the scrotal sac is suspended from the body so that the excess heat from the body may escape. Sperms are produced in the testes at a temperature of 2 to 3 degree Celcius lower than that of the body. This temperature is regulated in a strange manner through the movements of the scrotum wall. When it is too hot, the skin of the scrotum loosens so that the testes hang away from the body. When it is cold, the skin contracts in a folded manner and draws the testes closer to the body for warmth.
