Why do fireflies glow at night?

Fire flies have a protein which, in the presence of an enzyme, undergoes aerial oxidation. During this reaction, they convert chemical energy into light with wavelengths belonging to visible region. This light is bright and easily visible to us at night that makes us believe fire flies glow at night.
