Question 3
On what basis are plants and animals put into different categories?

Open in App
Solution

Plants and animals are put into different categories on a variety of criteria such as mode of nutrition, locomotion, presence or absence of cell wall and chloroplast, etc. Plants are autotrophs, while animals are heterotrophs. The cell wall is present in plant cells, while it is absent in animal cells. Also, the absence of locomotion in plants gave rise to structural changes such as the presence of cell wall (for protection), the presence of chloroplasts (for photosynthesis) etc.
