Question 40
Why does moon have very cold and very hot temperature variations e.g., from -190∘C to 110∘C even though it is at the same distance from the sun as the earth is?
On the surface of the moon, there is no atmosphere, thus the temperature range varies from -190∘C to 110∘C. The temperature on Earth is maintained by the atmospheric layer around the Earth. It absorbs radiation avoiding overheating and prevents loss of heat from the surface preventing Earth’s cooling.
