(i) Hand-picking is used in the following processes:

  1. Separating out grains from the mixture of seeds, husks, sand, and other unwanted particles based on their appearance.

  2. Picking out marbles from the mixture of stones, marbles and other particles.

(ii) Threshing is the process of separating grains from the stalks. After harvesting the crop the stalks are set to be dried under the sun. The dried stalks are then beaten up against the stone to free the seeds from the stalks.
