If x and y are in direct proporiton, then,
$\frac{x}{y}=k\left(cosntant\right)$

e.g. Let x =4 and y =6

$\therefore \frac{x}{y}=\frac{4}{6}=\frac{2}{3}$

Now, (x-1)= 4-1= 3 and (y-1) = 6-1= 5

$\therefore \frac{x-1}{y-1}=\frac{3}{5}$ [not in direct proportion]
