Question

Question 6 (iii)
The volume of a right circular cone is 9856cm3. If the diameter of the base is 28cm, find:
(iii) curved surface area of the cone.
[Assume π=227]

Open in App
Solution

(iii) Radius of the cone =(282) cm=14 cm
Let the height of the cone be h.
Volume of the cone =9856 cm3
13πr2h=9856 cm3[13×227×(14)2×h] cm3=9856 cm3h=48 cm
Therefore, the height of the cone is 48 cm.
Slant height (l) of the cone =r2+h2
=(14)2+(482)
=[196+2304] cm
=50 cm
Therefore, the slant height of the cone is 50 cm.

CSA of cone=πrl
=(227×14×50) cm2
=2200 cm2
Therefore, curved surface area of the cone is 2200 cm2.
