Describe the 'Greenhouse Effect' in your own words.

Greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane and water vapour which are present in the atmosphere traps the solar radiations. This process is called the greenhouse effect. Greenhouse gases trap solar radiations, keeping our planet warm and thus, help in the survival of living beings. In recent times, due to the excessive burning of fossil fuels, there is a sharp increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases. This resulted in a significant increase in Earth's temperature causing global warming.
