Solve the following pairs of equation
x3+y4=45x6y8=4

Open in App
Solution

Given pair of linear equations is
x3+y4=4 and 5x6y8=4

The first equation is x3+y4=4

The LCM of 3 and 4 is 12.
On multiplying both sides by the LCM of 3 and 4, we get:
4x+3y=48........(i)

The second equation is 5x6y8=4

The LCM of 6 and 8 is 24.
on multiplying both sides by the LCM of 6 and 8, we get
20x3y=96.......(ii)

Now, adding Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get
24x=144
x=6
Now, adding Eqs.(i), we get
4×6+3y=48
3y=4824
3y=24y=8

Hence, the required values of x an y are 6 and 8, respectively
