Select the incorrect statement
(a) Frequency of certain genes in a population change over several generations resulting in evolution.
(b) Reduction in weight of the organism due to starvation is genetically controlled.
(c) Low weight parents can have heavyweight progeny.
(d) Traits which are not inherited over generations do not cause evolution.
(b) Reduction in weight of the organism due to starvation is genetically controlled.
Starvation is a severe deficiency in caloric energy intake needed to maintain human life. It is the most extreme form of malnutrition. In humans, prolonged starvation can cause permanent organ damage and eventually, death. It can also result in inanition that is exhaustion caused by lack of nourishment. Now starvation can be imposed by external factors for e.g. lack of resources. It can also be self-imposed in the form of willful denial and avoidance of food. None of these has any link with the genetic predisposition or being programmed in one's genes. Controlling one's diet may result in weight reduction, but only starvation leads to emaciated ness whose fallout is generally fatal.
