Sunita is half the age of her mother Geeta. Find their ages

(i) after 4 years.

(ii) before 3 years.

Let Geeta's age be $x$ years.

Sunita's age $=\frac{1}{2}\times$ age of Sunita's mother Geeta.

$\therefore$ Sunita's present age = $=\frac{x}{2}$ years

(i) After 4 years

4 should be added to the present age to get the ages after 4 years.

$\therefore$ Geeta's age after 4 years = $(x+4)$ years

Similarly, Sunita's age after 4 years = $=(\frac{x}{2}+4)$ years

(ii) Before 3 years

3 should be subtracted from the present ages to get the ages before 3 years.

$\therefore$ Geeta's age before 3 years = $(x-3)$ years

Similarly, Sunita's age before 3 years = $=(\frac{x}{2}-3)$ years
