Radha made a picture of an areoplane with a sheet of paper as shown in the figure. Find the total area of the paper used.

Total area of paper $=ar\left(I\right)+ar\left(II\right)+ar\left(III\right)+ar\left(IV\right)+ar\left(V\right)$

$ar\left(IV\right)=ar\left(V\right)$

$\therefore$ Total paper required $=ar\left(I\right)+ar\left(II\right)+ar\left(III\right)+2ar\left(IV\right)$

$ar\left(I\right)=\frac{1}{2}\times 1\times 5=2.5{cm}^2$

$ar\left(II\right)=1\times 6.5=6.5{cm}^2$

$ar\left(III\right)=\frac{1}{2}(1+2)\times 1=1.5{cm}^2$

$ar\left(IV\right)=\frac{1}{2}\times 6\times 1.5=4.5{cm}^2$

Therefore, area of paper $=2.5+6.5+1.5+(2\times 4.5)=19.5{cm}^2$
