The inner wall of guard cells is thicker than outer wall and also inner wall shows radial micellation, i.e., radial distribution of cellulose fibrils. When water enters the guard cells, the guard cells swell but as the inner wall is thicker it is not pushed towards the stomatal pore, else it would lead to closure of stomatal pore. Instead the outer thin wall is pushed outside. The pushing of outer wall outside leads to pulling of inner wall along the radial micellation. Thus, it leads to opening the stomatal pore.
