The correct option is C 17λ

As number of nuclei N=N0eλt
Where λ is the decay constant and No is the initial number of nuclei
Given, initialy the number of nuclei are same so, NA0=NB0=N0 andNBNA=1e

For A, NA=N0e(8λ)t(1)
For B, NB=N0eλt(2)

Dividing eq.(2) by eq.(1)
e1=eλte8λt
e7λt=e1
7λt=1
t=17λ
So, the best option is t=17λ
There is slight error in the question, since the decay constent of material A is greater than material B. Hence the ratio of number of nuclie of material B to that of A is always greater than 1, but it is given less then 1 (1e).
