Ragunatha Nayak won victories over Nayaks of Madurai and Nayaks of Senji. Raghunatha Nayak was the third ruler of Thanjavur, southern India, from the Nayak dynasty. His reign is considered to be the greatest of the Thanjavur Nayak kings. The Madurai Nayaks were Tamil rulers from around 1529 until 1736. The Nayak reign was an era noted for its achievement in arts, cultural and administrative reforms. The Nayaks of Senji were rulers of the Gingee principality of Tamil Nadu between 16th to 18th century CE. They were subordinates of the Vijayanagara emperors. They were appointed as provincial governors by the Vijayanagar Emperor.
