Dear student,
Rahul’s case:
1.Mixture of iron filings and sulphur powder forms compound FeS on heating.sulphur has lost its original properties after reaction with Fe.
Fe + S →FeS
2.A black mass ,Ferrous sulphide (FeS)is obtained which is homogeneous.
3.Compound FeS does not show any reaction on heating. Manav ‘s case:
1.Iron filings cling to magnet.sulphur and iron retain its properties.
2.Appears as yellow powder in which some iron filing is visible, i.e., heterogeneous.
3.The mixture can be sepsrated by magnetic separation.
