Rahul's uncle is a horticulturist and grows many beautiful and exotic flowers. However, lately he has started noticing that, the new flowers are not forming due to failure of reproduction. He further sees that it might be due to inability of the movement of pollen towards to ovary. Thus, hindering the fertilisation. The pollen is not responding to which of the critical phenomenon?
Chemotropism
Chemotropism is defined as the growth or movement of a plant or plants part in response to a chemical stimulus. The growth of the pollen tube down the style, for fertilisation to occur, is due to the presence of sugars (chemicals) in the style.
Whereas in phototropism, hydrotropism and in haptotropism, light, water and touch are the respective stimuli.
