(i) Rahul's father's choice of purchasing the gift was better because wood is one of the main reason for cutting of trees. Trees are cut for commercial purposes of wood. Hence, a wooden toy would be a reason for deforestation whereas a sapling i.e. a young tree would be beneficial both to the environment and the people. As the sapling will grow into a tree. it will add may benefits to the environment like greenery, adding oxygen etc. Hence, a sapling is an eco-friendly gift.(ii) Other eco-friendly gifts could be a pup or a kitten (as many people are fond of having a pet) or a solar lamp that will save electricity,
