Raja by mistake poured kerosene in a bottle of water. How will you guide him so that he is able to separate the mixtures like it was before? [3 MARKS]

I will advise Raja to do the following.
He should get hold of a separating funnel. After setting up the separating funnel, he should pour the kerosene oil and water in it.
Raja should let it stand undisturbed for sometime. Soon he will observe that the two distinct and separate layers of oil and water have formed.
He should next open the stopcock of this separating funnel. The aim is to drain out the water slowly and carefully which has collected at the base of the funnel.



He should now close the stopcock of this separating funnel as soon as the level of oil reaches the stop cock.
Now the two miscible liquids have been successfully separated by him.
