Each school bag contains notebooks. Bag 1 has two notebooks, Bag 2 has four notebooks, and Bag 3 has eight notebooks. Observe the pattern in which the number of notebooks are arranged in the five bags, and find the total number of notebooks.

Rajat has marked the five bags from 1 to 5.

Number of notebooks in Bag 1 = 2
Number of notebooks in Bag 2 = 4
Number of notebooks in Bag 3 = 8


From the above pattern, we can observe that the next bag has twice the number of notebooks from the last bag.

Therefore, the number of notebooks in Bag 4 = 2 × number of notebooks in Bag 3

Number of notebooks in Bag 4 = 8 × 2 = 16 Similarly, number of notebooks in Bag 5 = 16 × 2 = 32

So, the total number of notebooks in all five bags = 2 + 4 + 8 + 16 + 32 = 62

Hence, the total number of notebooks is 62.
