The mean and the median salary figures are Rs. 5 lakhs, and the only mode is Rs. 8 lakhs. What is the sum (in lakhs) of the highest and the lowest salaries of vice presidents?

The correct option is A 9
2 Vice presidents earn 8 lakhs, and 1 earns 5 lakhs (mode is 8 and median is 5). So, sum of the salaries of the other two vice presidents should be 4 lakhs. Since 8 is the only mode, only posiible combination is 3 and 1 lakhs.
So the required sum will be 8+1= 9 Lakhs.
