Let us assume that they walk 10 m and 12 m respectively in 1 second.
The distance covered by Shyam is 288 m.

We know that, Distance = Speed x Time

Time taken by Shyam to cover 288 m = 28812 = 24 seconds
Therefore, the distance walked by Ram in 24 seconds = 24 x 10 = 240 m.

Hence, Ram is 288 - 240 = 48 m behind Shyam.
