Solution

Forming an expression:

Given: the speed of the hot water pipe =8.5L/min

the speed of the cold water pipe =13.0L/min

Time taken by cold water pipe to fill a bathtub =xminutes

The amount of water the cold water pipe has delivered =13.0×xlitres

Hence, the amount of water the cold water pipe has delivered is 13.0xlitres.
